ITPI grants approval of Planning Courses run by various institutions / colleges / universities, etc., in two stages so as to make the students eligible to become Associate/ Fellow members of ITPI :
Stage 1 - Provisional Approval
Before the commencement of planning course by any institutions / colleges / universities, etc., required to apply online in the prescribed format for provisional approval. The application form will be scrutinized by the competent Committee of ITPI to ensure that the applicant institution fulfils the requirements to start a planning course. Desired requirements are given in the application form. A processing fee of Rs. 50,000/- (fifty thousand per course) is also to be deposited online along with the application form. In case the applicant institution fulfils prescribed requirements / norms a provisional approval is granted for a period of one year (batch admitted in particular academic year) in case of M. Plan., and two years (batches admitted in particular academic years) in case of B. Plan. / B. Plan – M. Plan. Integrated. During the period of provisional approval an Expert Team of ITPI visits the institution for physical verification of infrastructure and for interaction with faculty and students.
Stage 2 - Final approval
Any institution who obtains provisional approval as above, is required to apply online for the final approval in the prescribed format for the same. A processing fee of Rs. 1,00,000/- (one lakh per course) is also to be deposited online along with the application form. During the period of provisional approval an Expert Team of ITPI visits the institution for physical verification of infrastructure and for interaction with faculty and students for consideration of final approval of the course. After submission of the report by the Expert Committee of ITPI, the matter is submitted before the Council of ITPI for according the final approval of the course. The Council may either accords final approval or in case further improvement is required the period of provisional approval may be extended till the compliance of observations of the Expert Committee.
